I received a B.S. degree and a Master's Degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. I also earned a Specialist Degree in Elementary Education from Jackson State University. I obtained my Gifted Certification from Mississippi College. I love school and learning new things!
I just love my job! I have had the opportunity to teach in so many amazing schools and have met really interesting teachers and students. I began my career in Minden, LA teaching second grade. After two years I moved to Jackson, MS and taught there for ten years. In Jackson, I taught in a Technology/Cooperative Learning Magnet School. This gave me so many opportunities to learn. My family then relocated to Vicksburg where again I found myself in a magnet school. This time an Aerospace, Science, and Technology School for Fifth and Sixth graders. In Vicksburg, I became interested in Gifted Studies. I went back to school to obtain the certification and took a position teaching 2-6 Gifted Students. My family then relocated to Brookhaven, my husband's hometown. After staying home with my youngest for a few years, I returned to a classroom at Martin Elementary. After teaching in a regular self contained classroom for several years, I returned to Gifted Education. I now teach both 7th and 8th grade Gifted at AJH and serve as our Gifted Coordinator for Brookhaven School District.
