Learning Target(s)/Objective: (What will students know & be able to do as a result of this lesson?)
Students will improve on skills necessary to play basketball while improving motor skills and cardiorespitory endurance.


Bell Ringer:
Get Dressed, warm-up
Guided Practice:
TTW give a brief review on the proper techniques for dribbling.
TTW demonstrate and explain the types of passes and the proper technique for making passes.
TTW divided the students into equal groups. Each group will be split into 2 lines facing each other.
TTW instruct the first person in each line to pick up a basketball.
TTW tell the students on the command “go”, they will execute a chest pass to the person facing them. Once they have completed the pass they will go to the end of the line facing them. This will be repeated until each person has completed 2 passes on each side.  This will be repeated using the bounce pass.
TTW explain the game “Captain Ball”
 On the signal “go” Captain, pass to the first player who passes it back and squats down; then pass to the second player, who squats down after making the pass back to the Captain. Once the last person passes back to the Captain he will run to the front to replace the captain. The Captain will become the first person in line. This continues on until each player has been the Captain. The team that finishes first will win.

 TSW listen as the teacher demonstrates and explains the types of passes and techniques.
TSW get into the groups assigned by the teacher.
TSW follow the teacher’s instructions to improve passing skills.
TSW apply skills learned to participate in the lead-up game “captain’s Ball.”

Students that have accommodations that will not allow them to participate will demonstrate their ability to make a bounce/ chest pass by making 3 of each type passes to the teacher.

Tuesday & Friday
Common Core Learning Standard(s) Addressed:
Learning Target(s)/Objective: (What will students know & be able to do as a result of this lesson?)
Students will improve passing and communication skills.
Bell Ringer: Get Dress/ warm- up
Guided Practice:
TTW review the proper techniques for passing (bounce, chest, overhead)
TTW demonstrate and explain the Star pass and follow drill.
Directions: Students will be divided into groups of at least 10 people. Each group will set up in a star formation. After a player has passed he/she will follow that pass and joins the end of the line. This continues on until a team has complete 50 passes. Once the team complete 50 they must all sit down in place to win.

Wednesday

Students will be able to construct a paragraph on the benefits of playing basketball.
Bell Ringer:
Get folders
Guided Practice:
The teacher will give a mini lecture on the benefits of playing basketball.
TTW instruct the students to write a paragraph on the benefits of playing basketball.
TTW asks the students to get out the notes for basketball.
TTW will discuss the notes and answer any questions that the students may have.
TTW will provide the answers for questions that were fill in.
TTW ask if anyone has questions.
TTW dismiss the students.
Content-Specific Vocabulary:
Independent Practice:
The students will put their books away and get their P.E. folder and a pencil and get into their seat.
TSW listen to the mini lecture on the benefits of playing basketball.
TSW write 1 paragraph on the benefits of playing basketball.
TSW participate in the discussion on the basketball notes.
TSW fill all blanks with the correct answers.
TSW ask any questions they may have.
TSW gather their books and wait to be dismissed.
