The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families will always be the top priority of the Brookhaven School District. Each day, parents entrust us with their children, and it is our responsibility to provide an environment where learning can take place without fear or distraction.
As part of our continued commitment to student safety, we are pleased to announce the implementation of the Open Gate Weapons Detection System at our middle school, junior high school, and high school campuses. This state-of-the-art system will provide an added layer of security by detecting potential threats before they enter our buildings, helping us maintain schools that are safe, welcoming, and focused on education.
This has been a project that we hae been working toward for at least three years, and its installation marks an important mileston in our long term plan to improve district-wide safety standards. Many of our families may already be familiar with this system, as the same technology has been successfully used at extracurricular events such as athletic games. Bringing it into our schools during the instructional day is a natural and necessary extension of our commitment to protecting our students.
This decision reflects our district's proactive approach to school safety and our belief that a secure learning environment is the foundation for academic and personal success. By putting these systems in place, we are taking a meaningful step forward in raising the standard of safety for our schools.
We thank our parents, students, staff, and community for supporting these efforts. Together, we will continue to ensure that Brookhaven schools remain places where every child feels valued, protected, and prepared to reach their full potential.
