AJH AR Requirements 2016-2017

Physical Education/Health

For each 9 weeks period,

·         Read books on your AR level. Your AR level is determined by your current STAR score. See “STAR Student Report Sheet” in the front section of your binder for your current STAR score/AR level.

·         Pass AR quizzes in order to receive AR points. See chart below to determine how many points you are required to earn each 9 weeks.

·         You will earn an “AR Points” project grade (25% of your 9 weeks average) in Language Arts & History.  See chart below for the AR points grading system.

·         We will have at least 30 minutes of scheduled reading times per week.  During “scheduled” reading times, you can only read or take an AR test.  You cannot use the time to go to the library.

·         We will have other times when you have finished all of your work, and you will then read your AR books.  This is unscheduled reading time.  You may use this time to go to the library if time permits. 

·         Tests may be taken in a classroom or in the library beginning at 7:20 in the morning (before school starts), during break, or during class time if the teacher permits.

For example, if you are on a 6^th, 7^th, 8^th AR reading level or above, then your AR point requirement and AR project grade will be as follows:

30 points = 100% A

20-29 points = 85% B

15-19 points = 65% D

0-14 points = 0% F

Parents please advise students to read everyday.  I can see that the students are not reading the Chapters once they leave class.  Students are responsible for turning in their daily assignments at the end of the week or whatever day the teacher has set.  Again, please have students to read everyday this will improve their grades and understand of the topics being discussed.
