 Student will be able to use rhythm, symbols, music terms, pitch and solfege to sight-read simple melodies and to identify and define music notation.

 

 

Procedures

 

 

·         Prior Knowledge:

·         Student performs Solfege/Kodaly/Curwen hand signals.

·         Study of notes and rests values.

 

·         Activities/Centers:

·         Daily vocalise and body warm-ups. Bellringer: In place body percussions. Review handouts: Solfege and notes and rests value.

·         Complete Lesson 1 (The Staff) worksheet.

·         Begin teaching voice parts to “Koukuburra”.

 

·         Closure:

·         Inform students of assessment on Friday September 18, 2020 on solfege hand signals.

 

Homework:

1)       Practice solfege daily. 2) Review over notes and rests value. 3) Review all music learned

Example:

5a. Look at each hand signal and write the correct hand signal in the blank provided.

5b. Student will use sight-reading book to learn rhythm by visually looking at music notation and speaking notated music using the correct rhythm.
